I currently work as an assistant psychologist in the NHS in a child and adolescent mental health service. I have worked in mental health services for 6 and a half years. I have over 4 years experience of working in children and adolescent services with children and young people aged 0-18 and their families. I have also worked with children, young people and adults with neurodevelopmental conditions and adults with learning disabilities. My experience in various roles and services has given me a wide range of experience working with different presentations and needs. I have absolutely loved working with children and families through my career so far and cannot wait to continue doing so. In my role I take a trauma informed care approach, particular a PACE approach (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy), to create safety and secure relationships with those I work with. I recognise the importance of building good relationships to also create those feelings of safety. I have a BSc degree in Psychology (First Class Honours). I have also completed postgraduate certificate in Evidenced Based Psychological Treatment: Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner. I have also completed a Level 3 BTEC in Health and Social Care, during which I completed a placement in children’s nursery. I have an Enhanced DBS certified for children and adults. I complete regular mandatory training on basic life support, safeguarding (children and adults), equality, diversity and human rights etc. as part of my NHS role. I have also undertaken training related to my NHS roles including the Incredible Years parenting programmes (which I have delivered groups to parents on), Non-Violent Resistance (a relational approach to help parents respond to behaviours that challenge) and the Trauma recovery model.
