My name is Laura and I am 24 years old. I am a patient, creative and enthusiastic Nanny, looking for a family I can support. I have worked in various settings; nurseries, schools, homes and clubs, with children of 6 months to 11 years of age. I have experience in mainstream education, special needs education, including early years. Supporting large classes of 30, as well as working on a 1-1 basis. This has given me valuable insight into the early years framework and the national curriculum. Including special needs support, PECS, macaton etc. Through this, I have acquired the knowledge and skills to help children have a successful start in life . I have safeguarding training and know the importance of keeping children safe, happy, and healthy. My experience in the educational sector is beneficial in helping your children with any homework. I have worked alongside a variety of practitioners, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, teachers, behaviour analysts and educational psychologists. My most recent work was in ABA therapy, I spent 7 months helping children with developmental challenges build life skills to guide them towards independence. Whilst incorporating the educational curriculum. However, I only ever use ABA therapy in specialist settings. My ethos is a consistently positive approach; always praising efforts and accomplishments. I set clear boundaries but want children to know that it is okay to make mistakes, as they are still learning right from wrong. Each child is unique, almost all behaviours have a function behind them and should be approached accordingly. I help children build confidence, feel understood and decrease any challenging behaviour. I enjoy creating fun activities for children, including arts and crafts. I am very sporty and happy to play fun outdoor games. I love pets and enjoy cooking.
