I am currently in my third year at Northumbria University studying BA (Hons) Early Primary Education. During my time on the course I have completed a number of placements across various Key Stages.
I feel I am a bubbly, approachable, energetic person. I am now working as a supply teacher in primary schools and have had various experience of long term supply acting as a Nursery Nurse. I have additional qualifications including a Level 2 in Understanding Autism and Boosting Reading at Primary.
I have an up to date DBS certificate, as well as a full clean driving license. I will also be taking part in paediatric first aid training on the 22nd and 23rd of August 2016.
With most of my school experience within the Early Years and Key Stage one, I believe that I have an exceptional understanding of Development Matters and the National Curriculum, only strengthened by my specialism in the Early Years (3-7), SEN and English. I believe strongly in making links across the school curriculum and encourage children to apply their cross-curricular skills throughout their learning journey, linking English opportunities wherever possible. I have a strong passion for working with children with SEN and in addition to my specialism I also carried out my dissertation research project based around learning strategies used to support children with ASD.
Throughout my training, safeguarding has been embedded within my practice and I understand it is essential in every aspect of my work. I recognise my responsibility to all children within my care. I also have a sound understanding of child development and how children learn. I understand the value in real experiences such as, cooking, trips to the beach and park.
